Dawson Shanahan on track with Manx Grand Prix sponsorship

The Potters Bar engineering firm Dawson Shanahan, a leading worldwide supplier of cold formed and machined components, has completed a successful season of motorcycle sponsorship with the company’s sponsored rider, Andy Reynolds, taking third place at the 2009 Manx Grand Prix.

The annual amateurs’ race, which takes place on the Isle of Man every summer after the TT Races in May and June, is open to motorcycling enthusiasts for an opportunity to compete on the world famous TT course with machines of up to 350cc and 500cc.

Dawson Shanahan’s commitment to supporting motorcycling stems as far back as 1962, when the company’s late Director Robin Dawson won the Junior Manx Grand Prix title. When Berkhamsted-based racing amateur Andy Reynolds was seeking sponsorship for the 2009 Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix, Chairman and Joint Managing Director David Dawson readily agreed for the firm to enter him in to the race. The Senior Classic, for racing motorcycles made prior to 1972, saw Andy Reynolds riding a 500cc Patton which eventually finished on the podium in 3rd place.

David Dawson, Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Dawson Shanahan, sees this achievement as being just the latest in a long line of successful association with the sport. “We’ve been delighted to share in the success for such a long period of time. It all started with my brother’s success almost 50 years ago, and it’s extremely rewarding to be able to continue supporting and sponsoring local talent to enable them to compete in such a historic sporting event.”
